Located about an hour east of St. Louis, Centralia and its
surrounding communities are located close to urban centers, yet
have all the advantages of small-town life. Nestled
just 9 miles from two major interstates, Centralia is only a
few hours from centers like Chicago, Memphis, and Nashville.
Within a little over an hour Centralians can
shop at several major malls, watch Cardinal baseball, Rams
football, or Blues hockey, go to the St. Louis zoo, or take
a stroll along the grounds of the Gateway Arch. Yet,
they can just as comfortably shop at home and take part in
the many recreational, cultural, and athletic events right
in Centralia.
Residents have easy access to the best medical
facilities available. St. Mary's and Good Samaratan
hospitals are located in Centralia and nearby Mt.
Vernon. And, several of the country's leading medical
centers are found in nearby St. Louis.
Centralia and its adjoining communities,
Central City and Wamac, have a combined population of over
24,000 people. Although the area has experienced the
loss of jobs in recent years, the city leaders and business
community are optimistic about the future of the area.

The people of Centralia are particularly proud of
their newly constructed high school. Completed
in 2006, this $36 million structure is home to nearly
1100 students and to the nationally famous Orphans and
Annies basketball teams. |
Nearby are several quiet little towns, like
Irvington, Richview, Walnut Hill, Hoffman, Hoyleton,
Sandoval, Odin, and Kell, as well as the larger communities
of Salem and Mt. Vernon.
There is an abundance of good available housing
for sale in the Centralia area, giving the buyer an
excellent choice of properties to considet.
Below, Judy has provided links to several
